I-405/I-605/SR-22 Connectors, Orange and Los Angeles counties, CA
This recently completed project, also known as the West County Connectors, is a joint OCTA and Caltrans project which links high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes on the San Diego Freeway (I-405) with the Garden Grove Freeway (SR-22) and the San Gabriel Freeway (I-605). In addition to the direct freeway connectors, additional lane capacity is being constructed on the I-405, and several bridges (Seal Beach, Valley View and 7th Street) are being demolished and reconstructed, and on- and off-ramps are being replaced. Mountain Pacific Inc provided falsework design for spans of up to 100 feet, specialty design, shoring, bridge jacking, demolition plans and other construction-related services on this 6-mile project which traverses the cities of Garden Grove, Westminster, Los Alamitos, Long Beach and the community of Rossmoor. All of Mountain Pacific, Inc.’s designs took into consideration the very limited right-of-way within which to install temporary structures and the need to keep traffic moving on all three freeways, with 400,000 cars traversing the I-405 section between SR-22 and I-605 on a daily basis.
